Backflow Information
Colorado backflow rules are designed to protect the public water supply from cross-connections and contamination. State programs, local water districts and individual utilities may each have requirements for when and how a device must be tested.
Annual Testing
Most commercial backflow prevention assemblies need annual testing by a certified backflow tester. The test confirms whether the assembly is operating correctly and produces documentation for the property and water authority.
Local Submission Rules
Different water districts can have different submission processes, due dates and repair expectations. A property may need documentation for domestic water, irrigation and fire-line devices.
Repair and Recertification
If a device fails, the next step is repair or replacement followed by retesting. AO can identify the failed component, complete practical repairs where possible and recertify the device after the work is done.
